Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet could undoubtedly survive on their collection alone. The Offshore design that was launched in 1993 and made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1999 in the movie End Of Days, enjoys so much attention that AP introduce one limited edition after the other in a speed only know in automotive business. Some of these limited editions are OTT and even laughable. Others the opposite!
Take for instance the latest Offshore limited to a total of 100 pieces. One 60-piece limited edition for the Tour Auto, and another 40 for the National Classic Tour. These new timepieces have been specially designed to appeal to motor sports enthusiasts and only differ on the caseback with different inscriptions. The red detailing, chequered inner bezel design and strap are all the same on the two versions.
The better looking version, however, is the limited boutique "Driver" version (not yet revealed how limited though) with its orange detailing as opposed to the red Tour Auto and National Classic Tour versions.
The handsome Drivers boutique version also sports a different strap design as well as a more simple caseback.
Both (or all three if you like) has a brave new bezel design that reminds me somewhat of the cool and way pricier Montoya and Barrichello versions. Very beautiful sand bead finish that suits this watch extremely well.
Undoubtedly these novelties will have no problem finding owners. Beauty and quality sell even in bad times. Especially when AP is behind.
