The Prix Gaïa is awarded by a jury consisting of representatives from watchmaking, business, banking and government to proponents in the watchmaking industry who set new milestones in categories like technical, cultural, historical or economical.
Previous laureates include François-Paul Journe (1994), Ludwig Oechslin (1995), Luigi Macaluso (1998), George Daniels (2001), Paul Gerber (2007) and Nicolas G. Hayek (2008), to name just a few.
The jury has now awarded the Prix Gaïa 2010 to Jacques Muller and Elmar Mock in the category Artisanat-Création, for their vital contribution to the realization of the Swatch watch which would not be made without these two men.
Jean-Claude Biver is the third laureate, in the category Esprit d’entreprise, for all he has accomplished (up till now) in his career in the watch world.
