Chronoswiss sold to Swiss investors

Last year Gerd-Rüdiger Lang (now 69 years) retired from Chronoswiss, the Munich-based watch company he founded twenty-nine years ago. As his daughter Natalie, also a watchmaker, declined to take over the family business, the fate of Chronoswiss was uncertain. Now it has been announced that Chronoswiss – the entire factory in Karslfeld outside Munich and all employees – have been taken over by a Swiss investor family from outside the watch industry. Chronosa, the Swiss subsidiary in Nidau, was already dissolved in 2011 and now headquarters will be moved to Switzerland. The new owners plan to adhere to the Chronoswiss tradition and to only produce mechanical watches, but who the new owners are has not been communicated. On TimeZone (where the Chronoswiss Forum was recently closed because of minimal activity) posters suggested the Sandoz family. Stay tuned.
